ALOha!!! - Last Saturday was the Franklin Group Real Estate Summer Party
Good food, great friends, great fun with a killer 4 ofc volleyball tournament thrown in!!

Marino was the Big Kahuna who planned the intense office Volleyball competition!!!! The trophy was HUGE....The Morgan Maniacs had really planned to take the trophy home, but due to circumstances beyond our control, that didn't happen this year....But watch out, we will be totally ready next year!! (Matt said he would make us our own Morgan trophy anyway...whataguy!!! ;-).....

Cathie & college (UVU) bound son David

Danielle at USU

Danielle headed to Logan last Tuesday for "Connections" week - in the olden days we used to call it Hello Week. Unable to get into her apt until Friday, Yellie and Lacie stayed with Amanda & Josh (thanks guys!!) - our Logan relatives. After classes, dances, hikes and fun all week - Danielle was able to move into her apt on Friday. Scott and I drove up the with the rest of her household items, took a city tour with her and then went to the famous BlueBird cafe (yummy) for a nice visit.

It's a darling apartment with 4 girls - including high school buddy Jessica (affectionately called Jessiker by me n Scott). Her other 2 roomates are from the SLC area and are Juniors. As shown in the photo - there are plenty of pillows and a sideboard (formerly a headboard before we got hold of it!!!) It was pretty hard leaving her there - but we know that she will do fantastic at school and will have a great time! Yellie we love you!!!

Oh yeah - and just so everyone knows now - It is OFFICIAL: We are now Empty Nesters!! tweet tweet!!!!!!

WCR Leadership Conference

The National WCR Leadership Conference was held this past weekend for all State and Local Chapter President Elect's. This was to teach us that 1) There is so much that we didn't know 2) To help us all realize that there are other women all over the USA that are in the same boat and 3) To give us TONS of Info that will help us all do a great job next year for our chapters!!

The above photos were of the women from the Utah Chapters who attended the conference - we all went out to a fantastic Chicago authentic Italian restaurant on Friday night and then walked down to a waterfall for some fun photos. The 2010 officers in Utah are L to R: Kathy Vause - St. George Chapter, Pam- Utah County Chapter, Cindy Kay - Northern Wasatch Chapter, Vickie Fulkerson - State President Elect and Deanna Dippo - SL Chapter. They are a great group of ladies and I look forward to working with them and seeing them at the conferences this next year! Good Luck in your Chapters!!!

Enjoying the nice Chicago weather and the beautiful flowers and waterfront walkway!!!!

Yellie n some Dummies

Danielle has graduated from High School, worked all summer and completed an internship at my real estate office and now.....tomorrow she is leaving for a week to hang out with Benita in North Carolina!!! Benita is a sweetie and bought Yellie a ticket for graduation. It is much better that Yellie will be hanging with Benita than with the dummies I recently saw her with (see photo above!!).

Danielle - I am so proud of what a hard worker you are and know that you will do great at college and in life. Be Happy. Be Blessed. I Love You!! Mom

Flowers Sisters

Flowers Sisters: June Flynn, Vi Shore, Betty Larson, LaNae Dalton, Merle Banks & Linda

Last week Mom's sisters Vi, Merle and Linda all came into town. So a get together was thrown together at a nice park with a bowery. It was such a hot day. But WONDERFUL seeing the sisters all together, along with many of my cousins, second cousins, etc....

I bet there were about 150 people there...it was too hard to count with all the kids running around...and this was just a portion of the relatives. My uncle Dick, cousins Sandi, Carla and Pam also came into town. I really enjoyed the day and I LOVE my relatives!!

L to R: Kendra, Brenda, Taylor and Heidi

The Best part of this get together was that Brenda, Dave and the girls were also in town. Heidi left 4 days after this photo to go on a spanish speaking mission to Phoenix, Arizona. I know Heidi will do great. What a great family!!

Movie Premier

Spur o' the moment....Kimberlee was given 4 tickets to the 7:30 pm EARLY premier of the new Harry Potter Movie. It was up in Perry. Kai won a door prize for food as we walked in. We got to have our photos taken with Hagrid and Dumbledore...they even put us in robes and we got a magic wand. (It was too embarrassing for Scott and Kai...so they walked away pretending they didn't know us.) Kimberlee and I posed very nicely....I will put the photo on when she gets it back.
Once inside we had great seats....then the raffle came...right off the bat they called Scotts #....good thing it was him, because it was a trivia question contest. Scott WON!!! Wahhoo. If it would have been me, I don't know much about the movies (or books). Scott and Yellie are the experts. Scott won a basket with candle, lotion and more. He is SO smart!!! Anyway....fun night, good movie and great company. When we came out there was a big line for the Midnight showing of Harry Potter....Lots of people dressed up. Fun nite for spur o' the moment fun!

Afghanistan Shooting practice

Denny and a few guys had the opportunity to practice shooting out in the Afghanistan desert. He said it was pretty fun and gave them a break from regular (if you can call it regular) work. The terrain kinda reminds me of the west desert here in Utah.

You can look on Denny's blog to read more about these. Denny, thanks for serving our country. I am so proud of you and love you. Be Safe. Love, Mom ps: Thanks for posting photo, we love hearing from you!!!

4th of July Parade in Morgan

On a whim this morning Scott and I decided to go to the Morgan 4th of July Parade. We rushed over just in time to see the parade. There were ton's of people. I always love watching all the children run to get the tons of candy that the parade people throw out. There were alot of patriotic floats and kids who decorated their bikes. Anyone could be in the parade. There was a marching drum line, horses, and of course all the fire trucks at the end of the parade. This is a photo of one of Morgan's first fire trucks. The parade started at 9:00 am, and at 9:14 am we were walking back to the car. Sometimes people will run to another corner so that they can see the parade again. I LOVE small town parades, they are the best!!

Some locals from thenearby town of Peterson on their float. It was awesome!!!

Puzzle Pieces

A week ago we had the brilliant idea of putting a puzzle together. It was all colored jelly beans. This will take only 2 or 3 days I told everyone. Me n Scott, Yellie, Jessica, Kimberlee, Karen and Dustin all worked on the puzzle. It took 9 days to complete!!! The dogs even helped a little.
Finally today, The 4th of July....Independence Day....We were done!

This gave us lots of time to visit and be silly. Look at the puzzle piece on Yellie's head, and the puzzled look on Jessica's face (or Jessiker as we affectionately call her).

The finished product. This was a deliciously difficult puzzle - just like the box said!!!!!

Only one problem.....there is one piece missing. A few days ago, we caught Gracie our dog chewing on a piece of puzzle....we recovered that one....it is 2 jelly beans below the missing link...

We called Kimberlee, Jessiker, Karen and Dustin to see if they were all holding out the last puzzle piece on it....No one would 'fess' up. So we talked to Rosa and Gracie....but they aren't talking either. But just look at those innocent faces, do you really think they would do a thing like that?

Karen was Monkeyin' around!!!

Karen found a pattern online and made this monkey for some friends of theirs who just had a baby girl. This monkey is absolutely adorable. It is made from that super soft minkey fabric. Karen designed the clothes and then made a little blanket with the baby girls name embroidered on it too.

Karen also sent me a photo of 2 more monkeys that she made for a co-worker of hers. Karen is so creative. If Karen looks tired in this photo, it's because she was......they had driven all night from California to Morgan, arriving at Dustin's dad's place at 3:30 am. We all got together and went to breakfast at Larrys Spring Chicken Inn and then they were back on the road headed to Island Park near Yellowstone for a family reunion. I bet they will have a blast!!

Something for the Critter Jar

Last weekend we went to the SLC Arts Festival, we had a great time looking at all of the unique arts. We even bought a few pix for our house and Kimberlee did as well for her home. I always love the art shows, it makes me feel creative and want to go home and create, paint and quilt.

Kimberlee,Danielle and I all bought the same necklaces, just in different colors....sisterhood of the traveling necklaces. I told them it was a requirement at art shows to buy something to wear. We also enjoyed the most amazing lemonade and cinnamon almonds. Scott then took us to the Cheesecake Factory in Murray for Dinner, Deliciomoso!!!!

On the way home, we stopped and let the girls take a ride on the dinosaur. Denny keeps coming up with unique critters....now try to match this one - dinosaurs are hard to find!! The dinosaur was a bit wobbly and old, but very calm and nice. It didn't even try once to bite the girls!

Peach Cream Pie

Grandma Ev made a Peach Cream Pie for Danielle, Scott and me for our week of birthdays....It was absolutely Heavenly and light. I thought everyone may like to try it. Ev says it is very easy to make!

Pie Ingredients:
1/2 pint whipping cream
1 c powdered sugar, divided
6 oz cream cheese
1 (9 inch) baked pie shell
sliced peaches

Glaze Ingredients:
1 c sugar
4 T cornstarch
1 c mashed peaches
1 c water
Yellow food coloring
1/2 t almond flavoring (optional)

Pie Directions: Whip Cream with 1/2 c of powdered sugar. Beat cream cheese with rest of powdered sugar. Fold together the whipped cream mixture and the cream cheese mixture. Spread into cooled pie shell. Cool in fridge for a least 2 hours, then top with sliced fresh peaches.

Glaze Directions: Make a glaze by mixing together surar, cornstarch and mashed peaches, water, almond and about 2 drops food coloring. Boil until clear, stirring constantly. When cool, pour over pie. Delicious!!

**I've tried this pie twice, the last pie Ev made - she made a graham cracker crust and used a bigger pie pan and then doubled the pie filling and topping. Also, she used canned peaches. I like the graham cracker crust the best. ck

California November 2008

There was a big fire in California the day we were to leave for the cruise, the freeway into Long Beach was closed, so over 70 people were delayed. The nice captain of the ship was kind enough to hold the ship for most of the people. Instead of leaving at 3:00 we left about 9:00 pm. It was absolutely wonderful being able to leave at night. The reflection of the lights on the water was stunning.

We got into Long Beach a day before leaving on the cruise. We walked all over Long Beach - our hotel was only a few blocks from the ocean. We went to the Long Beach Aquarium and had a great time. The photo above is of a sea horse. It looked just like a plant. I think the seahorse and the jelly fish were my favorites.

We had lunch in the Harbour Village in Long beach. The ships and lighthouse were so beautiful!

Scott with Zoltar the Fortune Teller.....I think his fortune was that he would have a fabulous week on the cruise...it was correct.....We had a great time!

Cindy hanging out at Pirates Cove with a friend.

Mexico Cruise

Last November Scott and I went on our first cruise ....I didn't know how to put photos onto my blog....actually I don't think I had this blog yet....Anyway....We went to Matzalan, Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas. It was a wonderful and relaxing and we hope to go again in the future!

We took a boat tour out to the Island that famous Director John Houston owned and filmed the movie Night of the Iguana. Also where Elizabeth Taylor fell in Love with Richard Burton during the filming of the movie.
We had a fabulous lunch here, got to see the jungle close up and some of the original home. Also we saw monkeys, parrots, iguanas and other wildlife. We had a wonderful lunch right next to the ocean, went swimming and hiking and took some great photos...and of course laid back and took a nap after taking photos of our feet!

I think this photo was in Puerto Vallarta on our boat ride to the island

Check our the beautiful parrot on my shoulder!! It was so beautiful!

I would love to live here!!!

Washington DC

Cindy, Sarah, Nita in front of the White House, Washington DC

The White House - Washington DC - May 2009

May 2009 I had the opportunity to travel with 3 other realtors to Washington DC for the 2009 MidYear Women's Council of Realtors Conference. It was an amazing experience to go to all of the classes. We had a half day where we were able to tour and see some of the monuments. Our Hotel, The Capital Hilton was only 2 blocks from the front of the White House. You could step out the hotel onto the street and look down the street and have a great view of the White House.

Secret Mission Part 2

This sculpture in front of the AirBorne and Special Forces museum was made from metal from the World Trade Center disaster on 9-11. It is the first in what will be a series of 3 sculptures. The center of the sculpture is on wheels, it turns when the wind blows or when someone pushes it. It was beautiful.

Denny next to a monument that is in honor of his 82nd Airborne All America Division that he is a part of. God Bless America, God Bless the Soldiers, and God Bless my Son, xoxox.

Part 2 of the secret mission day of surprises was that Denny and Benita took us to the Airborne and Special Operations Museum at Fort Bragg, NC. Scott was so happy and really impressed to see this museum. The museum was larger than it looked from the outside. It was really interesting - and kind of humbling to see the work that the soldiers do on our behalf. We are so proud of the work that our son Denny does for our country!

The Museum of AirBorne and Special Operations - Fort Bragg, NC

This is the mode of transportation that Denny will be a part of in Afghanistan. Amazing.

Coles Pottery

Neolia Cole Womak and Kenneth George at Coles Pottery in Sanford, NC

We went on a secret mission...Denny and Benita would not tell us where the adventure would be..the first part was for me and the second part of the secret mission was for Scott. My part they could not find, the surprise was to be a quilt shop, which we found out had closed down and the building had been torn down, that is why they could not find it. But being the adventurous types that we are...they took me to a famous pottery place in Sanford, North Carolina instead.

AR Cole came to Sanford, NC January 1934 to set up his pottery shop. It was originally named Rainbow Pottery, but was changed in the early 40's to A.R. Cole Pottery. Mr. Cole made pottery at Sanford until his death in 1974. Then his daughter Neolia (photo above) took over. Neolia had always worked with her dad. Another daughter Celia, and Neolias grandson Kenneth have both taken up the trade and help Neolia. Kenneth will be a 10th generation of Coles to make pottery.
**(Kenneth's 11 year old son, Taylor is also trying his hand at the wheel.

I Loved this shop and browsed and purchased a few items. What a blast!! I loved my part of the secret mission!! Benita enjoyed visiting with Neolia - she had gone to school with some of her relatives.

Brady's Grill

These 3 ladies have all worked at Brady's grill for years and years. Helen Brady on the right is the owner - she has worked there for over 43 years. The lady in the center has been there for over 25 years, and the lady on the left was our order taker and cashier, she has been a fill in on weekends and when they need her for over 34 years. They both participated in the Relay for Life cancer walk that was in town the day before. Both ladies in the purple shirts are cancer survivors.

Denny & Benita waiting for their food to be cooked. Helen in back is putting the fries into the fryer.

Local residents will bring boxes of stuff from their gardens and leave by the door for grill patrons to purchase. These tomatoes were beautiful and huge!

Denny paying the bill....I believe the cash register is the original.

Scott and Cindy at Brady's Grill in Bennett, NC

Denny & Benita wanted to take us to their favorite diner in town, in fact it is the only diner in town. Brady's grill. It has 6 bar stools and 2 small booths. It was packed the whole time, including people standing waiting for their to go orders. This place is only opened Mon through Sat until around 2:00. It was DELICIOUS! And charming!! The prices were so reasonable. This place beats McDonalds by a long shot and the ladies who worked there were so adorable and friendly. We had a great time there. The ladies all gave their wedding congrats to Denny & Benita and wished Denny well on his deployment.
